Mission

Read-It Forward is dedicated to empowering young minds and educating future generations through literacy. Reading is proven to have effects on cognitive capabilities beyond any other activity, but this hobby has lost its popularity in the age of technology. Our primary mission is to make reading more accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful by providing young children in underserved communities with the tools to improve their reading abilities.

We have spent the past two years encouraging reading in young children through community engagement and book donations. Soon, we will be connecting volunteers with children through reading sessions and educational activities. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover the confidence, creativity, and possibilities that begin with a book.

The founder of Read-It Forward is Isabella Roquette, a rising junior from Puerto Rico. She has been a passionate reader from a young age and started this initiative because she saw how many people have stopped reading as much, and many children don't start reading until a later age due to a lack of access. She aims to increase access to books for young children in underserved communities to foster a love for reading in a technology-based generation. Additionally, as this project expands beyond Puerto Rico, she hopes to impact more young minds through the power of literacy.
